Papers of the Graduate Labor Union at the University of Virginia, 2001-2002.

The papers contain copies of a brief chronology of the GLU-CWA; the affiliation agreement with the CWA; a sample membership application; an organizing plan; a website printout; and media coverage, chiefly articles from the "Cavalier Daily." Material from an issues campaign include a generic graduate employee job description outline, proposed revisions in the graduate student grievance procedures, statements of concerns, organizing strategies, an information handout, membership criteria, a sample issues survey, and a letter to President John Casteen; and "obstacles" including the university wage authorization policy, a decision package narrative justification, an appeal to university administrators and board membes, remarks to the Board of Visitors by Faculty Chair Michael J. Smith; and a report to the CWA.
